Our story or His Story?

The Bible is about God's story. The essence of God's story is that God created man for fellowship and He is in the process of separating out a people from every nation, tribe and language as His own! This is the end of history - God separating a people unto Himself! History is His Story!
Rev 7:9-10
After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:
"Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb."

Often we live life oblivious that we and our lives are part of the story of God! We run our lives without realising that everything in our lives is part of a bigger story, a bigger narrative of redemption. We need to understand that everything we do - our birth, our growing up, our study, our careers, our marriage, our kids, our calling and everything we do until the time we die, is to be lived in the context of God's story of God redeeming a people to Himself into the kingdom of God! This gives us a larger context, the larger perspective and purpose in not going about our lives in poursuing our own purposes but also intersecting the lives of others in a way we together cause God's purposes are established! What an impact that would have if we go about unlocking potential and purpose in the lives of others around us by serving one another and have our lives intersect! When we do this, we find our own purpose and potential is unlocked and together we are building the body of Christ!
Romans 12:4 – 8

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Paul describes us as living epistles or letters that tell a story that points to God! Letters carry messages that are meant to be read. Every day, we perhaps write a page and over a season a chapter with our lives! Ever wondered what sort of message we are putting out there for the body and the world to see? Are they messages of love, hope, service and encouragement to others that build others up for the kingdom of God or do they tear down and point to a kingdom of darkness instead? Let's ask the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Living God to help write pages, letters and books of our life that truly point to God!
2 Corinthians 3:2-3
You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
St. Francis of Assisi said "Preach the gospel at all times and if necessary use words."

Do our lives testify to the character of God and point others to the bigger picture of His Story in history? Let us live our lives conscious that everything we do is part of the bigger story and has impact on the people that God is gathering to Himself! Let us become tools of the Spirit of the Living God that partner with Him in the bigger purpose of redeeming a people for the Kingdom of God!
